Here are a few handy Mac tricks you can do on your mac.
- Hold down the "option/alt" key when the computer starts up to switch between multiple Operating Systems such as Windows and Lion.
- Hold down the left mouse button or left button on the trackpad when the computer is starting up to eject a CD from the tray.
- Hold down the shift key when the computer starts up to enter Safe Mode. Safe Mode is where it will only run the bare essentials of the Mac which is useful when trying find if your experiencing a software problem or a hardware problem.
If your computer is acting strangely, not connecting to anything, has random errors one thing you can try is Zapping the PRAM. Taken from Apple Support:
Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
- Shut down the computer.
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
- Turn on the computer.
- Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
- Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
- Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.

Clear entire print queue in OS X with a Terminal command
If you need to clear your entire print queue in Mac OS X for whatever reason, there is a simple terminal command you can type to do the job.
Simply:
- Launch Terminal
- Type cancel -a -
- Success!
All print jobs in the print queue should now be gone!

By default, the built-in application firewall for macOS automatically allows applications signed by Apple to receive incoming connections. If you've adjusted the settings for your application firewall, you might need to allow incoming connections. If the issue persists, reset the cache of accepted certificates:
- Click your desktop to make sure that you're in Finder.
- From the menu at the top of your computer screen, choose Go > Go to Folder.
- In the box, enter
/var/db/crls/
. - Click Go.
- Drag the files labeled
crlcache.db
andocspcache.db
to the Trash. - If prompted, enter your administrator password.
- Restart your computer, then try to connect to the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store.
