Going to continue researching and posting links, but I want to post this incase the window gets closed somehow.
This one states to check out the last file loaded before InDesign crashes (if we can even see it, as it crashes pretty quickly). It also says to disable plug-ins, recreate preferences (I think you've already done that as well), deleting certain files, and other various things to see if we can find what's causing the problem. Maybe something helpful in here:

A lot of places are also repeating the creating a new user account. Not sure if this is an option in this situation.
Are there any other files in the preferences folder? It sounds like the entire folder should be trashed as opposed to deleting a particular file or two. This forum thread documents it sort of:
