To solve this issue you will need to uninstall the driver for the scanner by following the directions below, then re-install by following the link below.
Uninstall Epson driver
1. Unplug scanner from Mac
2. Go to 'Macintosh HD'
3. Go to the 'Library' folder within 'Macintosh HD'
4. Go to 'Image Capture' within 'Library'
5. Go to 'Devices' within 'Image Capture'
6. Delete 'Epson Scanner' by clicking and dragging it to the trash
7. Re-install the driver from Epson's website (instructions below)
Re-installing the Epson driver for Mac OS X (v10.6 - v10.6.x)
1. go to http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=41623&prodoid=46048265&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
2. Choose 'ICA Scanner Driver v5.3.0 for Image Capture' from the list
3. Click 'Download Now'
4. Click Save in the window that pops up 'epson13969.dmg'
5. Open 'epson13969.dmg' form your 'Downloads' folder.
6. Run the install
*If you're running Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7, the driver for the scanner is available only via Apple's Software Update. Here's how to get it:
1. Connect the scanner to your Mac and make sure the power is on.
2. Click the Apple icon, then select Software Update.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the available updates.
Note: Software Updates may find multiple updates for your system. You may choose to install all or some of the updates by clicking on Show Details.
